Longevity
AND THE ART OF CAR MAINTENANCE

Wouldn't it be great if it were true?
MARKETERS PREY ON OUR DESIRE
for a quick fix. Let's try to exercise some discretion when wading through the ads promising us instant longevity.
When considering longevity, there's no quick fix. I collect old cars. Some of them still run well after a lot of
miles on the road. Some are merely ornamental. The difference is not what I did to them for only one day or one
week or one year, but how they were consistently maintained over time. Isn't this a good metaphor for our own bodies?
I can't beat my body down year in and year out with unhealthy habits and expect that I'll be "running well"
forever.
My ornamental cars look great on the outside, but they're not road-worthy. I've worked with people who have gone
to extreme measures to look like the picture of health, but did nothing to promote their health and longevity.
They come to me with flawless exteriors, but are sick or dying. Their habits haven't changed. They've become ornamental.
So, what are some everyday longevity strategies?
FIX WHAT'S WRONG
Imagine driving your car with hundreds of nails in the tires. There are microbes, tiny unseen assailants, that
may be doing to your body what those nails are doing to the tires. Fungus, yeast, and mold can ruin your health.
The symptoms you have may be the result of yeast overgrowth. For 35 years I've seen people recover from incredible
health challenges once the yeast is eradicated. They seem to have the best success in doing this by modifying their
diet and taking good, natural antifungal supplements.
GOOD GAS, GOOD OIL
Your car really responds better to high-quality fuel. So does your body. Some foods tend to feed and others tend
to starve fungal overgrowth. Our longevity plan has to have vegetables, berries, lean proteins, and good fats as
cornerstones.
ADD THE EXTRAS
My longest-running cars also are pampered with special extras that make a difference. I think of upplementation
this way. My foundational strategy is to eradicate the toxins and to feed my body well every day. I'm not helping
myself by taking a handful of pills along with a junk diet. Supplements are just that-supplemental. They fill in
the holes when we can't eat organic food or when we need extra support for a particular health issue.
While I believe in taking supplements every day, I ask people to recognize what supplements can and can't do. There
are very helpful supplements available, but be sure to do your homework, and look for quality.
HEAD OUT ON THE HIGHWAY
Do you know how to ruin a great car? Let it sit dormant. Cars were built to be driven. We, too, were built for
movement. We can't expect to be our best without exercise. Lately, I've been riding my bike to and from work. It's
32 minutes each way and it's hard. That's why I do it. After your doctor clears you to begin, start off slowly
and progress gradually, but get started.
WHAT ABOUT THE MANUFACTURER?
The Designer of our bodies did it right. I can't go along with popular wisdom that says, "If we can't find
the cause of the problem, we'll assume it's genetic." In many cases, this lets us off the hook way too easily.
We are given a responsibility by our Designer to respect the way we were built, and to use the tools that have
been given to us to maximize our health.
So maybe it's time for an overhaul! I suggest you get started today. Do one thing differently. Then two. Soon you'll
wonder how you ever lived any other way.
