There are a lot of good fibers on the market nowadays, but did you know that there's one that acts more like a superfood than a fiber?
Hopefully you're all taking a good fiber supplement. For years, I've sold it because it just makes sense. After all, people who eat the Standard American Diet typically get very little fiber from their diet alone. As a result, they have gas, are bloated, and constipated. Worse yet, they're risking things as serious as colon polyps, diverticulitis, and even cancer. Taking a fiber supplement has been shown to help keep all of these conditions at bay, and it's easier than ever to make it a daily habit.
Of course, the best way to get your 25 - 40 grams of daily fiber is from your diet. We see commercials everyday promoting the benefits of whole grain breads and cereals, but if you watch Know the Cause everyday, you know that these choices may come at a price. Doug has made it clear for years that stored grains are commonly contaminated with mycotoxins, which are poisons from fungus. So bread items aren't going to be my primary choices.
I think vegetables are the best choice. Green leafy vegetables like romaine lettuce, kale, and spinach are excellent sources of fiber. So are broccoli, carrots, and squash. These and other Phase 1 veggies should be the foundational items in are diets.
Certain fruits are also especially high in fiber. Berries may be the best. They're loaded not only with fiber, but antioxidants and natural antifungals.
For extra insurance, why not try a whole food fiber supplement. The one I'm so excited about nowadays comes from a green superfood called kamutTM grass. Kamut is a non-stored grain, so there isn't the risk of mycotoxins. It has as much as 40% more protein than wheat, and is loaded with vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats. What's more, it actually tastes slightly sweet. The grass of is harvested in the early stages of growth when it has lots of green chlorophyll, which is a great antifungal.
I also like having slippery elm with grass. Slippery elm has been shown to help gastritis and GERD, and it's soothing for the stomach and intestines. This sweet, nutritious combination is my favorite fiber supplement now by far.
