Basic Good Health

One of the hardest things about the business I'm in is talking with people who think they're healthy.

They eat the Standard American Diet, don't exercise, and don't take supplements, but so far, they don't have any symptoms.

When I talk to them about a healthier lifestyle, they usually think it doesn't really affect them, and that it's too complicated to begin.

But did you know there are some simple things that every one of us can do every single day to help assure we're healthy, full of energy, and hopefully, symptom-free?

The basics of good health aren't too complicated. The first step for everyone is establishing a great diet. Since you watch Know the Cause, you probably agree with me that Doug's Phase 1 Diet is the healthiest diet out there. Lots of vegetables, a few choice antifungal fruits, and nutritious proteins like eggs, grass-fed beef, and wild fish. It's so simple that most anyone can start it today.

The second principle is to take a good, foundational multi-vitamin to fill in the gaps. Dr. Jonathan Wright, one of the most respected health-oriented physicians in the world says that supplementation is always necessary for good health. Thankfully, the benefits of supplementation are so strong, that even the FDA is slowly warming to the idea that everyone needs it. A good multi has to have all the vitamins and all of the major minerals. One that has extra antioxidants like Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and selenium is a must, since these help detoxify the pollutants we're exposed to both in our diet and in the air.

Along with a good multi, I think everyone needs extra immune support and antifungal support. Lately, I've been taking a supplement I discovered at the University of Minnesota Medical School. It's actually made up of seeds and seed oils, and the surgeons that introduced it to me are seeing their patients recover quicker after surgery with fewer complications. They're so impressed, they take the formula themselves.

Finally, stress reduction is crucial for health. Exercise does wonders to relieve stress, and there are some terrific herbs I take, like Passion Flower, Hops, and Valerian. These not only help relieve stress, but also help with sleep.
