Kids Health
All of us are concerned for our kid's health,
but did you know that our children might need supplements just as much as adults?
I personally have never seen so many kids in such poor health as I have in the last few years. When I was growing up, we couldn't wait to get home from school so we could go outside and play. What's more, we had P.E. everyday. We were always doing something active, and it showed. It was so rare to see an overweight kid when I was growing up.
But now, everything has almost reversed, and kids actually tend to be heavier. Maybe it's the video games, maybe it's the lack of P.E. in schools. Certainly there's a diet connection, though. I read that today's food supply contains only a fraction of the nutrients that it did just 20 years ago. There's an idea in nutrition that we sometimes overeat because our bodies crave nutrition. When it isn't getting adequate nutrients, the body stays hungry even if we eat a lot. And the standard breakfasts and lunches are so loaded with breads, cereals, and sugar, our kids are locked into a vicious cycle.
But not only are our kids heavier, they're suffering with diseases that used to only afflict adults. Type 2 diabetes - which used to be called "Adult Onset Diabetes" - comes to mind. Even arthritis is showing up in elementary age children. And of course, there's the epidemic of ADD and ADHD. I really worry that this is about to be the most medically-dependant society we've ever seen.
When my own daughters were born, my wife and I made some decisions. I just didn't want them to constantly be sick, too tired to participate in sports, or setting up for disease later in life. So here's what we do.
We try to ensure the meals they eat at home are organic and loaded with vegetables. If you can start young, kids really can develop a taste for it. My girls love having a protein shake in the mornings if they don't have time for a full breakfast. The one I give them is loaded with nutrients, and has a lot of protein for hours of energy.
A really important thing we did was giving them a good multi-nutrient supplement. We started this when they were young, and now it's just a habit. Now, they're enjoying great health, and I'm enjoying peace of mind!
