Air Treatment Systems

Many of us have seasonal allergies, and some of us seem to have allergies all year long.

If you're tempted to run inside to get away from the allergens in the air, be careful.

Did you know that inside air is typically more polluted than outside air?

The EPA says that 90% of most Americans' lives are spent indoors. They go on to say that indoor air contamination is our number one environmental health problem. Amazingly, Scientific American magazine said that when a baby crawls on the floor, he or she breathes in the equivalent of four cigarettes a day of polluted air. For all our efforts at keeping our homes clean and our families healthy, our modern sealed-in homes and building materials aren't doing us any favors. The bottom line is, no matter how often we clean, we're exposed to toxic chemicals every day.

If you find yourself tired all the time, having difficulty going to sleep, constantly dealing with a runny nose or itchy eyes, but don't want to go running from pharmacy to pharmacy for more and more medicines, there is definitely hope.

For my own family, I start with non-toxic household cleansers. David Steinman of Healthy Living magazine constantly writes editorials about the potential dangers of common household cleansers, so we try to avoid them at all costs.

Secondly, my family has invested in a great air treatment system - the Pionair. The Pionair uses the same particles found in nature to clean the air. Negative ions and hydroxyl radicals are the atmosphere's natural detergents. These particles are magnetically attracted to pollutants in the air. It's the simplest system I've ever seen because there are no moving parts, no filters to clean, and it's as silent as a light bulb.

Next, I always take good supplements, like a comprehensive multi-vitamin/mineral complex, fish oil, and a good immune support supplement. The one I like has black raspberry seed and black cumin seed in it, and it is wonderful. I also think probiotics are really important for anyone suffering with allergies. I continue to be amazed at the studies showing how healthy bacteria can protect us from the effects of pollutants and allergens.
