Benefits of Fiber
Did you know that there is a way you can get all of the benefits of fiber while also alkalizing your body?
The way is through kamut grass.
You may not have heard of this, but it provides such a variety of health benefits, I take it every day.
First, let's remind ourselves of the benefits of fiber. In addition to the obvious, keeping us regular, a high fiber diet seems to also help prevent colon cancer, irritable bowel syndrome, and diverticulitis. This, plus probiotics are an important start for anyone suffering from gas, or most other intestinal disorders.
Eating fiber is also a great way to keep your cholesterol under control. The fiber actually sets off a chain reaction with certain good bacteria in your colon that ultimately causes your liver to make less cholesterol - another good reason to have both fiber and probiotics in your daily regimen.
For years now, I've recommended psyllium husks as a great fiber for everyday use. We all learned that psyllium actually adheres to mycotoxins and helps eliminate them from the body.
But lately, I've also been impressed with kamut grass. Kamut is actually a grain, but I only take it in grass form so that I get all the benefits of the chlorophyll without the worries I have about grains. Chlorophyll is what makes this and other plants green. It's called the blood of the plant. In addition to being a great blood detoxifier, it has also been shown to help eliminate certain mycotoxins from the body, including aflatoxin, the most carcinogenic mycotoxin known.
The chlorophyll also has an alkalizing effect, which means it makes the pH of the blood less hospitable for microbes like fungi. If you watch Know the Cause every day, you know how important this is!
The kamut powder I use also has something called slippery elm in it, which helps the fiber to gently move through the intestines more effectively. I like to take mine with L-glutamine.
So make sure and get at least 25 grams of fiber every day from your diet or good fiber supplements like psyllium or kamut grass.
If you'd like to try these, including the kamut grass with added slippery elm, just give me a call or visit the Green Sweep, Psyllium and/or L-Glutamine web page.
