It wasn't all that long ago when weight loss pills sold in drug stores contained dangerous amphetamines.
Eventually these were banned, but did you know that some of the weight loss products currently being sold may be just as harmful?
The sad thing is that people who struggle with weight are often desperate enough to try just about anything. If it didn't make me so angry, it would almost be funny to see how these products are promoted. The only thing that encourages me about this is that people are beginning to see how phony these products really are.
The truth is, my approach to weight loss is pretty simple. I tell people to stick with a few basic concepts. First, no supplement will work if you continue to eat sweets and grains and soda all the time. It's just not possible. Stick with a good basic diet with lean proteins, fruits and vegetables, and good fats like fish and nuts.
If you can add exercise to that, you should start seeing results. Most studies show that when a good diet and a solid exercise regimen are combined, people lose more weight than by doing either of those things by themselves.
As for supplements, I have only a few recommendations. First is a meal replacement powder, and it's a great way to kick off your new habits. Just mix the meal replacement with water or juice and drink it in the place of one or two meals. If you put it in a blender and add berries and something like flax seeds, even better. Make sure you get one that's less than a hundred calories, has at least fifteen grams of protein, and some fiber to help keep you full. The studies on using meal replacements for healthy weight loss have been really positive, so I have no problem recommending them for most people.
You might wanna top that off with a few supplements like chromium picolinate, L-carnitine, and conjugated linoleic acid. All of these have been shown to help the body drop weight safely and effectively.
