Stomach Disorders
Did you know that stomach disorders are some of the most popular reasons for people to see their doctor each year?
Just take a look at the biggest pharmaceutical sellers each year, and you'll find that drugs for heartburn, ulcers, and irritable bowel syndrome make billions for the pharmaceutical companies.
If you are someone who wants to make sure and maintain great intestinal health, here are a few suggestions.
Probiotics may be the best, most foundational gut health products you can take. These are good bacteria that normally reside throughout the entire intestinal tract. In addition to helping you digest and utilize your food better, they also can help stave off yeast, lower cholesterol, and even boost the immune system. Since we lose these good bacteria with antibiotics, poor diet, and even chlorinated water, a probiotic with a blend of healthy bacteria is a must have for nearly everybody.
The one I take has a complex of seven different strains of good bacteria, including my new favorites, L-plantarum and L-reuteri. The plantarum produces a substance that fights off yeast, and the reuteri helps you to utilize the nutrients from your food better. These, along with the other five strains are a super combination that I use every day.
Along with probiotics, I take an amino acid called L-glutamine. This is the most plentiful amino acid in the intestines and can actually help rebuild the intestinal lining. It also creates a barrier against toxins that enter the stomach. It dissolves completely in water, so I take a couple of scoops of it throughout the day.
Another every-day nutrient is fiber. I used to take psyllium and I still love it's effects, but lately I've switched to kamut grass. Since it's green, I know that I'm getting the detoxifying power of chlorophyll with kamut, and it also helps to alkalize the body. The more alkaline the body, the less likely germs can live there.
So you can see that these basic nutrients not only help the intestines, but also help maintain health for the whole body.
