Heart Disease

Did you know that most heart disease can almost always be traced back to the way we eat and the way we live?

But even though it is currently the number one killer in America today, the emphasis seems to be placed on more and more drugs instead of prevention and natural remedies.

What's more, cardiologist Dr. Decker Weiss says that he believes much of the conventional treatments actually makes the heart weaker over time instead of stronger. This is why I'm so interested in doing everything I can naturally to prevent this disease from happening in the first place.

Once the foundation of a good diet is established, I depend on a number of important supplements. A comprehensive heart formula should have things like potassium and magnesium to regulate the heartbeat and maintain healthy blood pressure. It should also have CoQ10 since this is so integral to keeping our heart supplied with energy. It has also been shown to prevent congestive heart failure and cardiomyopathies.

Hawthorn berry contains nutrients called bioflavonoids which strengthen the heart muscles for better contractions, and also improve arterial blood flow. Certain herbs and spices like ginger root and motherwort can help maintain blood pressure and keep platelets from being less sticky so there's less risk for clots forming.

Beyond a formula that contains these ingredients, I also like what I'm reading about D-ribose. D-ribose is a healthy, non-sweet, nutritional sugar that works in every cell in our bodies. The research on this nutrient has been incredible. A European medical journal recently showed that d-ribose helps improve heart function even after patients have experienced congestive heart failure. It also is being used for people who just need an extra energy boost, something heart patients would love to experience.

With all of these well-studied natural nutrients now available, my hope is that more people will depend on these now and avoid having heart problems later.
