Can I take vitamins along with the medications I got from my doctor?

  • Almost every product we sell is safe to take along with other nutrients or medicines. Vitamins and minerals are from food sources and are natural to our bodies. Some herbs have contraindications with some drugs. A few of our products are an herb or contain herbs. Two products in particular are ginkgo biloba and saw palmetto. Saw palmetto is safe to take along with medicines. Large doses of ginkgo biloba should be avoided by pregnant women and people taking certain drugs. To be safe, we still recommend you talk to your doctor before taking any herbs with your medications.

Can my children take vitamins?

  • Absolutely. While our bodies grow, we need extra antioxidants, minerals, and trace minerals. Children rarely eat the perfect diet and should take a multivitamin. BioPLUS is safe for children. You should adjust the dosage depending on the size of the child or give your child our Kidz Komplete, especially formulated for kids of all ages. Probiotics are also very important for any child who has been given antibiotics. Every product we offer is safe for children to take but the dosage should be tailored to fit their size and situation.

What does BioActive or BioAvailable mean?

  • Most nutrients are available in many forms.
  • There are differences in each form.
  • Some forms need to be combined with other nutrients or chemicals in order for your body to recognize, absorb, and utilize the nutrients effectively.
  • When a nutrient is in a form that the body can easily absorb and utilize, it is said to be bioactive or bioavailable.

Are all herbs in supplements the same?

  • In fact, most herbal products on the market today do not contain the proper potency of the important active ingredients.
  • All of  our herbal products are independently tested so you can be sure they are 100% pure standardized extracts of the highest grade available.

What is the difference between tablets, capsules, softgels, and powders?

  • Most tablets are not able to be broken down and absorbed by your body. Tablets are baked, then covered with materials which cover the smell, have a more appealing color, and makes them easier to swallow.
  • Capsules are one of the most efficient forms of supplements. Capsules are thin pieces of vegetable or gelatin that immediately dissolve in the digestive system, where the nutrients can be absorbed and utilized.
  • Powders are another effective form of supplementing nutrients. Taking a powder form of a nutrient is not much different than taking it in a capsule form. Powders may be more convenient or pleasant than taking large numbers of capsules. Absorption of nutrients is the same in a powder form or in a capsule filled with powder.
  • Softgels are another excellent method to deliver nutrients. Softgels are also very easy for the body to dissolve. They are especially effective when using a nutrient that is oil-based.

What form of supplement is best?

There really is a big difference when it comes to the form of supplement you are taking.

Most tablets are not able to be broken down and absorbed by your body. Most or all of the nutrients get passed through your system before your body can get the needed nutrients. Most tablets are made by mixing all of the nutrients together, adding fillers and binders, cooking it into a tar like material, then pressing it together in a tablet press. To cover the smell, many companies coat the tablets with a material designed to keep the smell in. The tablets are then coated with a color that should appeal to you. Some have still another coating of material which makes them easier to swallow.

We use only the most effective forms of supplements.

  • Capsules are one of the most efficient forms of supplements. Capsules are thin pieces of vegetable or gelatin base that are immediately dissolved in the digestive system. Nutrients are mixed together in a large "blender" or "mixer" so the nutrients are evenly distributed throughout. The powder is then put in the capsule through an encapsulation machine. When the capsule is swallowed, the outer capsule dissolves immediately and the powder is mixed with the liquids in your intestines where the nutrients can be absorbed and utilized.
  • Softgels are another excellent method to deliver nutrients. Softgels are also very easy for the body to dissolve, so the nutrients can be efficiently absorbed. When a product starts out in an oil form, it is often best to keep it that way so you don't diminish the potency. Caprylic acid is one example, CoenzymeQ10 is another. Softgels are made up of a small amount of gelatin base that forms a thin bubble around the nutrients.

Often it comes down to which you prefer to take.
