Did you know that there is a way you can get all of the benefits of fiber while also alkalizing your body? The way is through kamut grass. You may not have heard of this, but it provides such a variety of health benefits, I take it every day.
First, let’s remind ourselves of the benefits of fiber. In addition to the obvious, keeping us regular, a high fiber diet seems to also help prevent colon cancer, irritable bowel syndrome, and diverticulitis. This, plus probiotics are an important start for anyone suffering from gas, or most other intestinal disorders.
Eating fiber is also a great way to keep your cholesterol under control. The fiber actually sets off a chain reaction with certain good bacteria in your colon that ultimately causes your liver to make less cholesterol - another good reason to have both fiber and probiotics in your daily regimen.
But lately, I’ve also been impressed with kamut grass. Kamut is actually a non-stored grain, but I only take it in grass form so that I get all the benefits of fiber without the worries I have about grains. Kamut has as much as 40% more protein than wheat, and is loaded with vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats. What’s more, it actually tastes slightly sweet. The grass of kamutTM is harvested in the early stages of growth when it has lots of green chlorophyll, which is a great antifungal. Chlorophyll is what makes this and other plants green. In addition to being a great blood detoxifier, it has also been shown to help eliminate certain mycotoxins from the body, including aflatoxin, the most carcinogenic mycotoxin known.
The chlorophyll also has an alkalizing effect, which means it makes the pH of the blood less hospitable for microbes like fungi. If you watch Know the Cause every day, you know how important this is!
The kamut powder I use also has something called slippery elm in it, which helps the fiber to gently move through the intestines more effectively. Slippery elm has been shown to help gastritis and GERD, and it’s soothing for the stomach and intestines. This sweet, nutritious combination is my favorite fiber supplement now by far.
If you’d like to try these, including the kamut grass with added slippery elm, just give me a call or visit BioActiveNutrients.com.
